But being a cowgirl isn't all about riding horses and cooking out over campfires. At least according to Dale Evans: "Cowgirl is an attitude, really. They defend the things they hold dear. A cowgirl might be a rancher, or a barrel racer, or a bull rider, or an actress. But she's just as likely to be a checker at the local Winn Dixie, a full-time mother, a banker, an attorney, or an astronaut."

When I was a kid I played Annie Oakley in a play and wanted to be her for a long time. Then there was the period I wanted to be Davy Crockett and wore a coonskin cap everywhere I went. Not so great on a girl with a blond dutch boy hair cut. But I had a great time as a kid. I ran across a photo this evening of me in my cowgirl suit. Lookin pretty cool. As a matter of fact, it's been a long time since I had that much fun. Thanks for reminding me.
